Rice Krispie Squares

of Rice Krispies cereal (6 cups) |

Butter, spray with a non stick vegetable spray, or line with parchment paper a 9x13 baking pan.
Melt the butter in the saucepan over medium low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly, with a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula, until the marshmallows have completely melted. Add the vanilla extract and then pour rice cereal and stir until all the cereal has been coated.
Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and lightly pat until even. Cool at room temperature until the Rice Krispies Treats(r) have set. Cut into squares. Well wrapped, these treats can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator for a few days.
Preparation time 15 minutes. Makes about 16 squares.
