Saute over medium low heat with a little bit of oil and salt until softened. 10 minutes.

carrots,diced ( we want the carrots to be able to hold their shape)

split yellow peas

pepper,

bay leaf,

2 tsp {1.6 g}

thyme,

boiling liquid from picnic ham any LARGE bones from picnic roast (small bones requires work to find them again…)

2 cup {0.0 g}

of diced/shredded ham.

Simmer 1-2 hours, or 10-20 minutes under high pressure.

Fish out bay leaves, bones. Add any extra water if necessary, process with stick blender if necessary. Add more diced ham if necessary.

After about 20 minutes in the high pressure cooker, the split peas are completely mushy, and no blender is required.

Add all the ham at the beginning.

Adding more water to make it more souppy, still congeals on cooling.
